Localized Marketing
So we all know that WWW stands for the World Wide Web, but the World Wide Web and the trends coming around have to not necessarily do with marketing to the world, but more about marketing on a localized level. Keep your eyes open and begin practicing localized marketing as soon as you can. Using keywords like city names and different phrases that will very easily bring your marketing down to a localized level. If you start on the front end of the localized craze you will find yourself and your business with much more longevity.
I think this is a godsend for local physical businesses also. In such a large corporate world, it seems like there’s only a few companies that own everything and that we all seem to work for the same company anymore. Well the internet has definately given us an edge on cost effective business, but now it can help local businesses when things are done right to stay afloat and potentially expand and progress. There is a very good opportunity for local marketing and local businesses to survive.

So how does that look? What sort of strategies might one employ to pursue this marketing direction? Does this mean ‘bumper stickers’ or full page newspaper ads?

Marketing methods could include bumper stickers and things like that, because every bit helps, but with this discussion I’m more focusing on the idea of using very Geo Targeted keywords when marketing your site. Many people search for local businesses online anymore and if they can find you then the track may come easier. Not everyone has the time or resources to use every name of every city or geographical location in the world when marketing their business.

Another good method of localized marketing online is using Google Local. The internet and Google are seeming to head in this direction, giving more weight to relevant local results.
I suggest making sure your business is listed on Google Local for your area.

Here is a list of a few local directories:
- local.google.com
- http://www.yellowbook.com
These are good places to list your website. Another idea is to include your geographic area in the title, description, keywords, and content of your site. Here are a few examples:

http://www.doorcountyreviews.com - Door County Reviews | Family Vacation Destination
http://www.fishingzoo.com - Surf & Maine Fishing | Fish Product Supply | Tackle | Information
Hopefully this helps.

[...] One of the things I’ve recently thought and read about is localized marketing. What does this mean? Why local when there is a huge “World Wide Web”? [...]
